Who should inherit?Decide who receives the residue of your estate, in what shares, and what should happen if one of them dies before you.

Who should be your executor?Choose one or two people you trust to deal with your estate, and name a substitute in case they cannot act.

Do you have children under 18?If so, your will should say who looks after them and at what age they receive their inheritance.

Do you own property?Check how your home is held. Joint tenants pass automatically to the survivor, tenants in common pass under your will.
